There is no single best calorie tracking app. Pick by the job: Cico for a running estimated calorie deficit on iPhone, MyFitnessPal or Lose It! for a free diary or daily budget, MacroFactor for adaptive macros, Cronometer for micronutrients, Noom for a guided program, and Cal AI for photo logging on iPhone or Android. Prices were checked in Oct 2026.
Logging, platforms, and US price
Alphabetical, not a ranking. The price column is the figure a company states with a billing period, as of Oct 2026. Cico's price is the one published on this website.
Calorie tracking apps compared alphabetically by logging, platform, and US price as of Oct 2026
Help-center prices and US App Store purchase labels did not always match on October 23, 2026. Each app section lists both when they differ.
How to choose
Logging method
Photo, barcode, text, and voice are different ways to log a meal, and a paid plan often gates some of them. Cico's subscription includes all four. MyFitnessPal and Lose It! put barcode, photo, and voice tools on Premium. Cronometer's Gold page puts photo and voice logging on Gold and barcode scanning on the free plan. MacroFactor's site lists photo, speech-to-text, barcode, and search. Noom documents photo, voice, and text on supported versions. Cal AI documents photo, barcode, and search. The Cal AI FAQ we read does not document voice logging.
A budget, a running balance, or a program
Lose It! Basic is built around a daily calorie budget. Cico is built around a running score: logged calories in minus estimated calories out. MacroFactor adjusts calorie and macro targets from what you log and how your weight trends, and its site says it does not use a watch's energy-expenditure estimate for that math. Cronometer compares intake with detailed nutrient targets. Noom Weight adds lessons to food logging. A higher App Store rating does not decide which of those jobs you need.
The renewal, not the download price
Match the billing period before you compare a price. MyFitnessPal Premium is not Premium+. MacroFactor's nutrition subscription is not the workouts bundle. A trial charge is not the renewal charge. On October 23, 2026, several US App Store listings also showed purchase names that the company's pricing page did not list. Those names are in the app sections below. Read the renewal terms on your own checkout screen.

Subscription required; billing period not on the purchase name
The US App Store listing checked on October 23, 2026 rates Cal AI 4.8 out of 5 from 372,229 ratings. The seller is Viral Development LLC. The listing says food scanning analysis requires a subscription, and it lists the app for Apple Watch and iPhone. Cal AI's FAQ, last updated July 2026, says the app requires iOS 18 or later and Android 10 or later, syncs steps with Apple Health on iPhone and Google Fit on Android, and does not move a subscription between iPhone and Android.
That FAQ says you can log with a photo scan, a barcode scan, or manual search. It does not describe voice logging, so this guide does not claim it. The same FAQ says Cal AI is about 80% accurate and that no food tracking app is perfect. That is Cal AI's statement. We did not test it.
The US App Store purchase list on October 23, 2026 included Unlimited at $2.99, $5.99, $9.99, $19.99, and $29.99, Unlimited Plan at $19.99, and Streak Restore at $0.99. Some of those names appeared more than once. None of them states whether the charge is weekly, monthly, or annual, so this page does not turn them into a plan. Compare Cico's website price, $9.99/month or $39.99/year, only after Cal AI's checkout shows the billing period and the renewal price.
Pick Cal AI if
You want to start a food log from a photo and you need an Android app as well as an iPhone app.
Pick a different app if
You want text and voice logging, or a running estimated calorie deficit, on iPhone. Cico does not run on Android.
Cico: if you want a running estimated calorie deficit
Developer
Cico Wellness & Health Solutions, LLC
US App Store rating as of Oct 2026
4.8 out of 5 from 52 ratings
Platforms
iPhone and Apple Watch
US price as of Oct 2026
$9.99/month or $39.99/year
Cico is the iPhone app from Cico Wellness & Health Solutions, LLC, the publisher of this site. The US App Store listing checked on October 23, 2026 shows 4.8 out of 5 from 52 ratings and lists Apple Watch and iPhone. Its compatibility line says iOS 18.0 and watchOS 26.0 or later. The listing says full access requires a monthly or yearly subscription. The in-app purchases on that listing were Monthly Standard $9.99, Yearly Pro $39.99, Yearly Standard $29.99, and Yearly Rescue $19.99.
This website lists Cico at $9.99/month or $39.99/year. Logging on the site is photos, barcode, text, and voice. The score is logged calories in minus estimated calories out. Apple HealthKit steps, workouts, and basal metabolic rate contribute to estimated calories out. A negative score is an estimated deficit, and a positive score is an estimated surplus. The score estimates where you stand. It does not measure body fat or guarantee weight loss. The site also shows mini-challenges, progress history, and share cards.
Cico is a weak fit if you need Android, a web diary, a free full-access tracker, meal planning, a lesson program, or adaptive macro targets. The other apps in this guide cover those jobs. Confirm which Cico plan is offered at checkout. The App Store list above is not a promise that every shopper sees every price.
Pick Cico if
You want one iPhone score for logged calories in minus estimated calories out, and you will pay a subscription.
Pick a different app if
You want a free food diary, Android or web, adaptive macro targets, micronutrient detail, or a guided lesson program.
Cronometer: if you want micronutrients and a free diary
Developer
Cronometer Software Inc.
US App Store rating as of Oct 2026
4.8 out of 5 from 99,810 ratings
Platforms
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, and web
US price as of Oct 2026
Basic free; Gold $10.99/month or $59.99/year
The US App Store listing checked on October 23, 2026 rates Cronometer 4.8 out of 5 from 99,810 ratings. The seller is Cronometer Software Inc. The listing includes iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, and the description says the app syncs with Apple Health and Apple Watch. Cronometer's mobile quick start, updated June 24, 2026, tells people to download from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Cronometer also documents a web app.
The Gold page lists Basic as free and Gold at $10.99 per month or $59.99 per year, shown there as $4.99 per month when billed annually. The US App Store purchase list on October 23, 2026 included Gold Monthly at $10.99 and Gold Annual at $59.99. The Gold page places barcode scanning with the free tools and places photo logging and voice logging on Gold. Cronometer's homepage says barcode scanning is free and that the app can track up to 95 nutrients. Cronometer Pro is a separate product for professionals. Its price is not in this guide.
There is no Cico comparison page for Cronometer. Cico does not publish a nutrient database of that scope, and it does not offer a free full-access tier or a web app.
Pick Cronometer if
You want a free food diary with deep vitamin and mineral tracking, and you will pay for Gold only if you want photo or voice logging and the longer reports.
Pick a different app if
You want a single running estimated calorie deficit and you do not need that micronutrient diary. That is the job Cico is built for, on iPhone, with a subscription.
The US App Store listing checked on October 23, 2026 rates Lose It! 4.8 out of 5 from 782,072 ratings. The seller is FitNow, Inc. The listing includes iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. The Lose It! homepage says the app has been on iOS and Android since 2008 and mentions Apple Health and Google Fit. The membership article places that device syncing in Premium.
The membership article, updated September 9, 2026, lists Basic at $0 with a personalized daily calorie budget and the food database. It lists Premium at $79.99 per year, including barcode scanning, photo logging, voice logging, and syncing with smartwatches and fitness trackers. Lifetime is a separate one-time purchase at $299.99, or $229.99 for an active Premium member. The US App Store on October 23, 2026 also listed Premium purchases at $9.99, $11.99, $19.99, $23.99, $29.99, $39.99, and $79.99, plus Lifetime purchases at $49.99 and $59.99. Those store names do not state a billing period. Use the help-center figure as the standard Premium price, and read the offer you are actually shown.
Lose It! is the clearer pick when you want a free daily calorie budget. Cico does not offer that free full tracker. Its published price is $9.99/month or $39.99/year, and its view is a running estimated calorie balance rather than a budget to stay under.
Pick Lose It! if
You want a free daily calorie budget, or you want Lose It! Premium's photo, voice, and barcode tools and accept the $79.99/year standard price.
Pick a different app if
You want the running estimated deficit on iPhone and you do not need the free budget. Compare the renewal price, not the download.
MacroFactor: if you want adaptive calorie and macro targets
Developer
Stronger By Science Technologies LLC
US App Store rating as of Oct 2026
4.8 out of 5 from 23,471 ratings
Platforms
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Android
US price as of Oct 2026
$11.99/month, $47.99/6 months, or $71.99/year
The US App Store listing checked on October 23, 2026 rates MacroFactor 4.8 out of 5 from 23,471 ratings. The seller is Stronger By Science Technologies LLC. The listing includes iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. The product site says to download on the App Store or Google Play, and it says there is no desktop app yet.
The listing description states three auto-renewing US prices: $11.99 per month, $47.99 per half year, and $71.99 per year. It also says there is a free trial and no free subscription tier. The help center lists those same single-app prices and a Nutrition plus Workouts bundle at $89.99 per year for people who started on or after January 1, 2026. The App Store purchase list on October 23, 2026 also included Monthly Subscription at $9.99, Annual Subscription at $59.99, and Annual Subscription Bundle at $89.99. The $9.99 and $59.99 names do not say whether they are the nutrition app, workouts, or another offer. For a calorie-tracker comparison, use the published nutrition prices, not the bundle.
The product site lists AI photo logging, speech-to-text logging, barcode scanning, and food search. It says Apple Health and Google Fit can import recent nutrition data. It also says the app does not currently pull energy expenditure from watches or activity trackers. The expenditure estimate comes from logged intake and the weight trend. That is a different design from Cico, which uses Apple HealthKit activity and basal metabolic rate in the estimated calories out. Neither description is an accuracy test.
Pick MacroFactor if
You want calorie and macro targets that adjust from your intake and weight trend, and you will pay the nutrition subscription.
Pick a different app if
You want a simpler running estimated deficit and a lower published annual price. Cico's website price is $39.99/year or $9.99/month. Cico does not adjust macro targets for you, and it does not run on Android.
MyFitnessPal: if you want a free diary, the web, or meal planning
Developer
MyFitnessPal, Inc.

4.7 out of 5 from 2,382,640 ratings
Platforms
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, and web
US price as of Oct 2026
Free; Premium $19.99/month or $79.99/year; Premium+ $24.99/month or $99.99/year
The US App Store listing checked on October 23, 2026 rates MyFitnessPal 4.7 out of 5 from 2,382,640 ratings. The seller is MyFitnessPal, Inc. The listing includes iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. MyFitnessPal's Premium+ help article, updated September 2, 2026, describes the subscription on iOS, Android, and the website.
MyFitnessPal's pricing article lists Free, Premium at $79.99 per year or $19.99 per month, and Premium+ at $99.99 per year or $24.99 per month. Premium includes barcode scan, meal scan, and voice logging, plus an ad-free diary. Premium+ adds the meal planner. Free includes basic food and fitness tracking. The US App Store on October 23, 2026 also listed Monthly Premium at $9.99 and Yearly Premium at $49.99, along with the $19.99 monthly and $79.99 yearly purchases. This guide treats the pricing article as the standard Premium and Premium+ price. Check which offer your checkout shows.
The free diary, the website, and Premium+ meal planning are real reasons to pick MyFitnessPal instead of Cico. Cico has no free full-access tier, no Android app, and no web app. Cico's published subscription is lower than standard Premium, and it is aimed at a running estimated calorie deficit rather than a large nutrition diary.
Pick MyFitnessPal if
You want a free food diary, logging on the web, or meal planning on Premium+.
Pick a different app if
You want a running estimated calorie deficit on iPhone and you do not need the free diary or the meal planner. Compare Premium's renewal price with Cico's $9.99/month or $39.99/year, not with the free tier.
Noom Weight: if you want lessons with food logging

Noom, Inc.
US App Store rating as of Oct 2026

iPhone, iPad, and Android
US price as of Oct 2026
$70/month to $209/year before tax and discounts
This section is about Noom Weight, the logging and lessons program. It does not cover Noom Med or medication. The US App Store listing checked on October 23, 2026 rates the app 4.7 out of 5 from 873,534 ratings. The seller is Noom, Inc. The listing requires iOS 18.2 or later and lists iPhone, not Apple Watch. The description says the app can sync with Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, and more. Noom's install guide says the app is iOS and Android only, not a desktop app, and its install steps include iPhone, iPad, and Android.
Noom's Weight pricing page lists standard prices before taxes and discounts, from $70 for one month through $209 for 12 months. It says the price can change with a promotion or with signing up in the app instead of on the website, and that medication is not included. The store listing's line about plans as low as $17 a month is footnoted there as a $209 annual plan, not a $17 monthly plan. The US App Store purchase list on October 23, 2026 showed Noom Program at $44.99, $98.99, $129.99, $159.99, and $199.99. Those names do not include the plan length.
Noom's logging guide documents photo, voice, and text meal logging on supported iOS and Android versions in the US, Canada, Australia, and Great Britain. That guide does not describe barcode scanning, so this page does not claim it. Noom Weight costs more at the published standard rates than Cico's $9.99/month or $39.99/year because it sells a program, not only a tracker.
Pick Noom if
You want daily lessons and a behavior program around food logging, and the Noom Weight price fits your budget.
Pick a different app if
You already have a routine and only want an estimated calorie balance. Cico does not include Noom's curriculum, and it does not run on Android.
This guide includes Cico and the five apps that already have a comparison on this site: MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, Noom, MacroFactor, and Cal AI. Cronometer is included because its developer publishes a free Basic tier and a Gold price for a nutrition tracker.
The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking, a score, or a medical recommendation. On October 23, 2026 we re-read the official pages linked below and the US App Store listings. We did not run a food-logging accuracy test, and we do not claim that one app estimates a meal more accurately than another.
The ratings are the US App Store average and rating count on that date. A higher rating is not an accuracy result. Prices are USD. A promotion, a region, or a different checkout can change the amount you pay.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best calorie tracking app for iPhone in 2026?
There is no single best calorie tracking app. Cico fits an iPhone score of logged calories in minus estimated calories out. MyFitnessPal and Lose It! fit a free diary or a daily calorie budget. MacroFactor fits adaptive macro targets. Cronometer fits detailed micronutrients. Noom Weight fits a guided lesson program. Cal AI fits photo logging on iPhone or Android. Choose the routine you will keep, at a renewal price you accept.
What does Cico's estimated calorie deficit mean?
Cico's score is logged calories in minus estimated calories out. Apple HealthKit activity and basal metabolic rate contribute to estimated calories out. A negative score is an estimated deficit, and a positive score is an estimated surplus. The score estimates where you stand. It does not measure body fat or guarantee weight loss.
Which calorie tracking apps have a free plan?
MyFitnessPal Free, Lose It! Basic, and Cronometer Basic include free food tracking. Cico requires a monthly or yearly subscription for full access. MacroFactor's listing says it does not offer a free subscription tier. Cal AI says food scanning analysis requires a subscription. Noom Weight is a paid program. A free download is not the same thing as free full access.
How much does Cico cost?
This website lists Cico at $9.99/month or $39.99/year. On October 23, 2026, the US App Store also listed Monthly Standard at $9.99, Yearly Pro at $39.99, Yearly Standard at $29.99, and Yearly Rescue at $19.99. Check the checkout screen for the plan, the billing period, and the renewal price before you subscribe.
Which of these calorie tracking apps work on Android?
Cico does not. It is an iPhone app, and the US App Store listing also includes Apple Watch. MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, Noom, MacroFactor, Cal AI, and Cronometer are available on Android. MyFitnessPal and Cronometer also have web apps. MacroFactor's site says it does not have a desktop app yet. Noom's install guide says the app does not run on desktop.
Why do App Store prices differ from a help-center price?
Stores and websites can list different offers at the same time, including promotions and older products. This page gives the price from each company's own pricing page when it states a billing period, and it also lists US App Store purchase names checked on October 23, 2026. Cal AI's purchase names do not state a billing period, so those dollar amounts are not presented here as a monthly or annual plan. Read the renewal terms on your own checkout screen.
